Harriett Sowerby

The inspiration behind this collection would be my tailoring heritage. My great grandfather and his father were master tailors in the North East of England from 1868 until 1955. Men’s tailoring and original historical pieces from the 1930s inspire this particular collection as well as the materials my great grandfather would have used. The Sowerby tailors used British-made 100% wool cloth, such as Harris Tweed, fine Yorkshire-made Worsteds and Melton wool. The family heritage provides inspiration for the design of the garments today, taking inspiration from fashion trends in the 1930s, as well as the choice of materials used. All of the boiled wool cloth used for the collection is 100% wool and made in Britain. This soft tailored collection is targeted at men aged twenty eight to fifty.
